Substantially larger than Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates still enjoys a semi-rural setting. Along with Rolling Hills, the city is known for its "horse country." The city maintains six parks, a tennis club and riding stables.
There are single-family dwellings and condominium developments within the city. There are about 57 miles of horse trails between the two cities. Incorporated in 1957, it has approximately 8,000 residents within 4.18 square miles of hilly terrain located on the northern side of the Peninsula.
